    Default Bonus points mall

Anyone do their online shopping through the bonus points mall? There are a lot of everyday store on there and you get 3x points when you go in through the amex site. I'm just wondering if there is a cathc like higher prices or something.

That's a great question. Surprisingly, I've never looked. Have you used the ShopDiscover feature for Discover cardmembers? I think it's similar, the difference being that Discover gives a cashback bonus that seems to be more generous. For example, I bought from 1-800-Contacts through the ShopDiscover site last month and the cashback bonus was 10% or 11%. The prices are the same too, the only catch is you need to access the retailers through the ShopDiscover site and pay with your Discover card. Discover must be getting some kind of commission on the sales which allows them to do this.

Default I've used the "points malls"

for chase and amex and am familiar with citi's program. they seem to work well; just make sure you link to your store from the bonus site and print out documentation to prove you qualified for the bonus.

Thanks. I had ignore the bonus points mall until now but was bored yesterday and checked it out. I expected to see just high end stores but was surprised to find places like Walmart, Banres & Noble, and other places that I actually buy from regularly online.

My main worry was that the prices at these places might be higher when you go in through the AMEX site. I'll have to check that when I have some free time.

I don't think they do that but you never know. I would be curious to know though so please let us know what you find out.
