Default Do you think I will get declined for AMEX gold card?

I am only 18 years old, have never used a credit card because I have been saving all my money and was paranoid that I would spend $ if I got a credit card.

Now, I am learning I really need one to get credit so I applied for the AMEX gold card.

I put my annual income as $40,000 - Do you think I'll get declined?

Yes, without a credit history and only being 18, I can't imagine you would be able to get approved. Furthermore, the new credit card reform which went into effect on 2/22 requires either a co-signer or proof of income for applicants under 21. The AmEx card you would most likely get approved for is the American Express Zync Card.
