Default Zync same qualifications as Platinum?

I recently chatted online with an AMEX customer service representative and asked which charge card has the most lenient qualifications with respect to credit history/score and income. I was surprised when I was told that they are all the same. Can this possibly be true? I'm skeptical.

I was also told that since I already have a card under my mother's account, the chances of being accepted for a given card are greater since I have a history with American Express, even though I am not the primary card member.

    Is any of this true?

    Thanks!

    Welcome to the forum!

I have a feeling the CSR whom you spoke with was referring to the basic requirements; 18 years of age and the bare minimum income requirement. I speculate that each card has different requirements for applicant's credit score and history.

There have been a large number of forum members reporting that the Zync has been the easiest to get approved for.

    Thanks for your reply!

I chatted with another CSR who seemed far more knowledgeable. He confirmed that the premium cards have stricter requirements, which is what I figured.

I also asked about specific qualifications for the Zync Card, which he couldn't really help me with as he didn't have access to that information. I'm 22, have a credit card through my bank, and a car loan. I have one year of credit history, and currently have an Experian Plus score of 726. Any idea as to whether or not I would likely qualify for the Zync? I have no negative information on my report, other than four inquiries within the last year.

Just to follow up, I went ahead and applied for the Zync Card and was instantly approved. Apparently, one year of good credit history is long enough for this particular card. However, it may have helped that I have a gold card under my mother's account, but to what extent, we'll never know. Then again, even that account is only two weeks old

MTBer, you should keep in mind that a charge card is a lower risk for a lender than a Credit Card. Once you are with Amex no matter if you are an authorized user or the primary account holder they will pretty much approve you for any of their charge card products. You can go ahead and burn the Plus Score (after 1.5 years I had a 721 which was the equivalent of a 614 Fico). You can certainly review your credit through experian but do not rely on the scoring especially since the vantage scoring is getting stronger and stronger. Congratulations on your Zync Card !

Thanks Floppster; I've went ahead and cancelled my membership with freecreditreport.com.

Is there a certain amount of time I must keep my Zync before upgrading to a Gold or Platinum Card without initiating another hard credit pull? I'd really like to be earning points that I can eventually redeem for airfare. So far, the Gold card under my mother and now the Zync Card in my name seem to be doing well with getting my foot in the door.

Default zync to gold or platinum

You must wait 12 months to upgrade, new rules from CARD act about additional fees, however you can apply for a new card. I am using a ZYNC because of recovering from id theft less than 6 months history, was 11 years. ZYNC does not have less spending power. I have made several $13-$15 purchases on it with no calls. I had them look at my old spending habits and income. Hell I called them when I was in vegas and lost my card at 3am. There was a new card waiting for me at the lobby at 5pm. I was also advised when I upgrade my card they will upgrade my zync express points with it to the regular program so if you get a platinum with 50k bonus points they deduct 10k points and apply 40k and upgrade the 10k points

Not true back in 1994 I had a regular gold card with my dad for 1 year, in 1998 I couldn't get a gold optima.

The reason why the zync card is easier to get is because it's the lowest level on the premium side, it's 75$ less than the green.
I bet you it's harder to get a gold than the green. the zync is the same level on the premium as the clear is on flexibility to pay over time side.
