Default Use points for Platinum fee?

    Hi,

I use an Amex Gold Business for all CC transactions for the non-profit I run, including paying for some large conference facility bills. We've accrued over 130k points.

I'm thinking about upgrading to platinum to take advantage of the airport lounge perk and higher rewards. Is there any advantage to using some of these points to pay the platinum fee? Would they allow this?

If not, which rewards offer the greatest value for the points? Some of the items offered seem high priced or you pay a penalty when transferring the points.

    Thanks.

    D.

I don not recall using points for annual fee payment is an option.

There are other credit cards that give complimentary airport access with lower or no annual fees. If this is for a non-profit organization it would be highly recommended to go with one of the free or cheaper alternatives.

I also think it wouldn't look the best for a non-profit to have that card. From what I recall Citi offers a card with airport access with an annual fee in the $150 range. Something like that would be a better way to go.
