Default Anyone submitting to the Members Project?

Amex has a contest that just kicked off on the 22nd which is an "online initiative that invites Cardmembers to submit ideas for projects to make a positive impact on the world that American Express will fund with $2.5 million."

I had an idea I wanted to submit but since it is religious influenced it doesn't look like they are accepting that type from what I saw on the site for it - membersproject.com

The categories are Arts & Culture, Education, Environment, Community Development, Wildlife, Health.

If you have missed out on the American Express Members Project you can submit to a similar initiative Google has undertook to celebrate their 10th anniversary. I do not recall the specific details but I do know they are giving away $10 million for ideas that help the world.

Has this competition concluded yet? I had mentioned this to a co-worker today that had an idea but I have the feeling it's too little too late.

I just checked and they announce the winner in 5 days so submitting for this year would be a no go.

This was a charity project right?

What we need is a charity project for Americans! We are so poor right now no one has a job and no one can afford anything!

Where can you vote on this thing anyway? I want to vote for one that helps Americans because we are fast on track to becoming a third world country at the rate we're going!

Default 2008 Members Project Winner Announced

    The winner has been announced:

    "Alzheimer's Disease: Early Detection Matters"

"I need your help to create and implement an education program to show the importance of seeking an early diagnosis of Alzheimer's, a progressive and fatal disease."

I do not mean to trivialize Alzheimer's but is this really the best they could come up with? To me this idea is rather unremarkable. An educational pamphlet to teach people about Alzheimer's disease is surely already available free of charge from any of the pharmaceutical companies that manufacture medicine for this condition.

Donation to charity is always positive but I believe there were much better projects out there which would have been better choices.

Oh that's real innovative. What will they give out? An informational booklet about Alzheimers?

Hopefully next year we will see a more revolutionary concept chosen.
