    Default Proposed new Amex commercial

Ok ok I love this one. A cardmember watches our commercials and buys a whole lot of expensive stuff he can't afford and never pays his bill and sticks American Express with the whole bill.

That's actually not too far from the truth with the government's new bailout program. The difference is the lenders get bailed out, the individuals don't, not even bankruptcy wipes out debt thanks do Bush's bankruptcy reform in 2005.

    Hey I got one!

Let's do one where people put a lot of stuff on credit cards like food and medical bills because it's all so expensive. Then they fall behind on payments. Th government helps out by bailing out the lenders and paying for this but they tell Americans they still have to pay their bills.

    I like it.

    Default yes

and the government would set the example for the people to pay all of their debts because the United States is the largest creditor nation on earth. Uh oh I keep forgetting it's not 1948 anymore.

Come on now how could you ask such a preposterous thing? Pay our debt? That's absurd! The American way of life is borrow and buy. Like you said our government sets the example.

What happens when Uncle Sammy can't pay his credit card bill either...

    Default Empire collapse

All of the things our forefathers warned of are coming to pass. Foreign entanglements, profligate spending, borrowing. We frittered away our wealth and independence. Noone is voluntarily willing to do away with social security, medicare, medicaid, welfare, food stamps, nation building, etc. to balance the budget and so reality will force us to abandon these programs involuntarily.

Not only that, but the gap between the haves and the have-nots is getting even wider.

The average people like me must deplete our assets to pay for highly inflated living expenses like energy, gas, healthcare, and everything else. The rich on the other hand, this inflation doesn't effect their living expenses much. They instead make more money by buying up the houses and stocks we can no longer afford to own. Once the economy turns around they're that have assets that increase in value, we're the ones left with debt and/or no assets.

This couldn't be demonstrated better than in the financial bailout. That doesn't benefit us, it benefits the wealthy who own those companies.

Didn't China just call up Bush yesterday to complain about how situation? I saw a headline that said something like that.

Apparently China is diappointed with their growth of only 9% a quarter now.
