    Default New !! Has Questions??

Hi Guys I am new here and I wanted to know what will it take for me to get an American Express Charge Card. I have just started building credit in November 2008. Right now I have a secured loan which is being overpaid ontime and a Secured Credit Card with zero balance. My EXPERIAN PLUS SCORE (NOT FICO) is 720. I was wondering when should I apply a card and what card should I apply for.
PS: is there a way i can get a AMEX card by paying a deposit.

Well I don't know about that but I can tell you not to get the Bank of America American Express card. You don't want to touch anything attached to Bank of America with a ten foot poll.

I'd prefer a Charge card although I am going to have to start somewhere with them.

Gold card is definitely the one to start with. Don't go with Amex Platinum until you know if the benefits are worth it.

Do you think I should apply now or wait? keeping in mind that my credit history started only in November 2008.

November 2008 will be tough. You may be better off trying to first get a card through your bank or credit union, if you have one that you have been using for a while now. It will not be a high limit credit card, but you can quickly build up a $500 limit to $2000 or more within 18 months.

Don't count on the EXPERIAN PLUS SCORE Model. Unfortunately it is quite inaccurate. A 720 Exp Plus Score should be the equivalent of 620 Fico. Due to the current financial situation I doubt that they'll approve you for any American Express Credit Card Product.
