Default asking for your ID at restaurants

Anyone notice how restaurants never ever ask for your photo ID unless it's to buy alcohol? I cna't think of a single time I've gone out to eat and paid with a credit card and got asked for ID. Do they have a policy not to ask for IDs with CC payments at restaurants or what? Seems like it because it doesn't matter what restaurant you go to they never ask it's crazy.

Just like with any other merchant, some do, others don't. Last month before the stamps were increased to 42 cents, I bought $80 worth of Forever stamps at 41 cents a piece with my credit card. No ID required. From there I went to a pizza joint for a $10 pizza, and they wanted to see my ID when i whipped out my credit card.

It seems like if it's a sit down restaurant where the waiter is going to make tips, she won't ask. But if it's take out or there's no servers, then they do ask sometimes. Figure it's probably because waiters don't want to ask for ID because they feel it's rude and may get a lower tip for it.

Waitress asking for ID = Bad taste in customer's mouth.

You don't want to irritate a customer that decides how much you get paid. Can you blame them for not asking for an ID when you use your credit card? I would do the same thing.

Frankly, I hope that everyone starts asking for an ID whenever you are using a CC. I don't have a problem showing my ID. Somebody else may but please give me just one simple reason why it should be bad for them. At the end it protects the cardholder.

i'll tell you the problem with asking for an id and that is what happens when you don't have one with you? we only get one drivers license and then without it we wouldn't be able to buy anything!

what they should do is a pin number like debit cards and like they do with credit cards in ireland and europe. that would be easier

Default this is what you do

    here I got one...

take a hidden camera and you can either use a small camcorder that is concealed or better yet those pinhole cameras you can now get dirt cheap and you can wear that under your clothing. anyway get a camera that works and go into different corporate scum we hate like Wal-Mart and print off official copies of the credit card rules that say they can't ask for ID.

Then when they kick you to the curb you mention you made a nice little video you will be putting up on youtube and sending to corporate.

see the look on that assistant manager that got off on his power trip telling you he makes up the rules.

hahaha I got this idea this weekend when I was with a buddy getting new tires. he took his camcorder out of the car because he didn't trust keeping it in there while they had is car. the whole time he was fooling around with it. then as a joke when he was leaving he told them he was doing an undercover customer service report and they got super nervous. He said he made a video to send to corporate and it will be up on youtube too.

    funniest day ever

How about we leave that to you cucumber and you post the videos here once you do it.
