Thread: roommate stole identity and opened credit card

my boyfriend, who shares my mailbox and my computer, applied for a credit card in my name, and added himself as an authorized user online. he wracked up some huge charges online overseas and paid the credit card bills from my bank account. this was all done online. all he needed was my personal info and my checking account routing number. this is so scary. it seems there is nothing stopping somebody from doing this. we share the same address and phone number, and he knows all my personal info. i care about him and don't want him to go to jail, but i want to dispute the charges. Its impossible to prove that he did these things, and not me. how do i convince the credit cards that i was not the one who did all this, so they will refund me my money?? if i cant convince them, will they not refund me my money?
