Default Pin number based credit card

I read on here that Visa is trying out a pin based credit card in the UK. Shouldn't they have all credit cards pin based in the first place For transactions over a certain amount they should require a pin. Such a simple way to cut back on fraud I wish they had here. It kind of makes you wonder why they don't do that already if fraud is such a problem.

May be a good idea - or as gas pumps already do it - ask to enter your zip code.

I think zip code wouldn't be the best idea because small towns only have one zip code and a crook could look up where you live if they really wanted to probably. Since everywhere that takes credit often takes debit it should work because the infrastructure would be there for us to enter our pin numbers on the keypad.

Hey lets go with the Pin. It works well for Debit so why not for Credit ?
However we all have to keep in mind that the issuer makes less money on a debit purchase than on a credit purchase so I am entirely certain if all the CC issuers would like to offer that feature.

I know debit transactions pay less in fees but I don't mean running a credit card as a debit card but just using that same keypad to enter your pin number for your cc purchase.

If they can configure the keypad for credit purchases to enter your zip code at the gas station then I don't see why they can't do the same thing but to enter a pin number instead
