About LinkBacksWell they didn't really let them get stolen but someone hacked their system in 2008 and got millions of CC numbers. They try to "save" themselves by saying they only got the CC numbers and not the SS or PIN numbers. It might just be me but that doesn't comfort me much. Here is the story, People keep an eye on your credit reports because as the economy keeps going down more and more of these will happen.

That's just plain awful.
What needs to happen for this type of recklessness to stop is to hold companies like these that compromise customer information criminally accountable. Being careless with sensitive private information is no different than distributing it openly.
Would it be going too far to impose heft government fines and criminal charges to a company that treats our private info carelessly? Not in my opinion it isn't.Last edited by Mogul of Pineapples; Jan 21, 09 at 5:43 pm.

The latest is that up to 100 million different credit card numbers got out.

Luckily we aren't responsible for fraud if it happens on our credit cards. It is a huge headache though to deal with and you may not lose money but you lose time.

What cards have been compromised exactly... Visa....Mastercard....Amex....all of the above?
I'm not too worried at all. If they know what numbers were stolen they can put safeguards in place to prevent fraud. I mean too it's 100,000,000 different credit card account. What are the odds the fraudsters will use your numbers? You probably have a better chance at winning the lottery than being a victim in this one.

this doesn't bother me as much as when others handle our social security numbers and not giving a s*** where they go or who hands they end up in. that's far more dangerous. at least you can change your CC number when it's stolen and aren't responsible for fraud. what do you do when someone steals your social and repeatedly uses it fraudulently? there's not much you can about it expect suffer and waste your time and money constantly fighting the fraudulent things that go on.
