I have recently got a Diners Club card, which is issued by Hyundai Card here. It has 14-digit number starting with '3' and the 'Discover Network' and 'Pulse' logo on the back but no MasterCard logo or anything.
I heard about the Diners Club - MasterCard alliance some years ago that the Diner Club cards issued in the US and Canada will from then on have 16-digit numbers starting with '5' (which is the MasterCard numbering scheme) while the cards issued in other countries will still have 14-digit numbers but will be accepted in US and Canadian stores with the MasterCard logo (and the MC logo will also be printed on the back of newly issued Diners Club cards).
What I also heard in 2008 was that the Diners Club network was acquired by Discover Network.
Now I have a question. Will my Hyundai Card- issued Diners Club card with Discover Network logo on the back be accepted at US or Canadian stores showing the MasterCard logo? Or will I be able to use my Diners Club card in stores with the Discover Network logo?
What about in countries other than US and Canada?
I know I should ask the issuer for these kind of questions, but they don't seem to be any clearer than me on this thing![]()
