Default How Many Credit Cards Do You carry?

    I carry five:

AMEX Blue ($30,000): 5% gas, groceries, drugstores, 1.5% everything else, AFTER $6500 spending tier is reached, main card, before tier, percents are: 1 percent and one-half percent.

Chase Freedom Visa ($39,500): 3% categories, 1% everything else, backup to AMEX Blue

    Citi Professional ($34,100): 3% restaurants

Chase BP Visa ($10,000): 60 day promo, 10% gas, 4% restaurants and travel, 2% all else, after 60 days, drops to 5-2-1%. Using now for everything except gas ( when necessary,non-BP), groceries, and drugstores, after promo, for BP gas only

Discover More ($15,000): for "Get More" promotions

I actually carry these five cards in my wallet, even though I don't have to carry them all.

I was wondering how many cards others actually carry in their wallets everyday?

The only cards I carry everywhere is my Amex Simply Cash and my B of A debit card, but I don't use a wallet so that's kind of why.

Here are the cards I have though:

Chase Amazon - only $4500 credit limit, don't use much anymore because the rewards aren't good enough
Chase Cash Plus - don't use often since they changed the rewards structure - $7.800 credit limit
American Express Simply Cash - like I said this is my main card
American Express Business Gold Rewards - I just use these for travel discounts, still under the 1 year promo where the annual fee is waive
American Express Blue Cash - don't remember the exact CL
Discover More card - $4500 cl - just got it recently
Citi Dividend Platinum Select- stopped using when they stopped offering the 5%, $6500 cl

Pretty sure that's all of them but for the most part I've only used the last Amex the year and a half since it has the best rewards right now
Disclosure: I am a moderator/paid staff of this site, which does have advertising relationships with some credit cards that are discussed. Regardless, anything I say is my honest opinion.

    Current Cards:
American Express: Blue Cash, Simply Cash Bank of America: WorldPoints Platinum Plus Chase: Amazon, British Airways, Cash Plus Rewards, Freedom, Ink Cash Citi: Thank You Premier, Dividend Platinum Select Discover: More
Primary Everyday Card: American Express Blue Cash
Primary Travel Card: Citi Thank You Premier

I've gotta open up another card or two myself. I got 4 cards and it's really helped my fico score the last couple years. I'm gonna get another card or two from creditors I don't have yet like Amex and Mastercard.

there is no recommended number of credit cards you're supposed to carry. a lot of people say 7 to 10 is good but i think the most important thing is the length they are open more than the number you have

I carry 2 credit cards and an ATM card in my wallet every day or wherever I go. I agree with @diego08 that there is no recommended number of credit cards that a person is supposed to carry. The important thing is that you use your credit card wisely and efficiently.

As of right now I carry:

Amex Zync - Main spending card
Discover More - Crappy 1k limit, only use for rotating categories.
Citi Dividend Plat - 4k limit, currently using because I have a 6 month 5% Gas, drugstore, supermarket. And also 5% rotating categories.

I need to pick up a few more primary awesome rewards cards, any suggestions?

Wow! This started off like I was going to have to get out a ruler and measure it... Yep, it's big enough.

And now the cards I carry and use without any unnecessary boasting. I open my wallet, a bifold, seeing...

    Citi Foward 3.125% on dining
FIA Cash Rewards 2% on everything (until the end of the month) and just to tease me I get a letter in the mail today stating 5% on Grocery, Drug Store, Gas Stations (that means inside too) and Restaurants up to a reward (statement credit) of $25 ($500 spent)
Discover More 5% this 1/4 on Restaurants, Dept. and Clothing Stores on $300
Associated Bank untitled Visa Signature (the former 5% Citi Dividend clone, it reports the limit!) 3% back on Grocery, Drug Stores and Gas Stations (inside purchases too) up to $2000 a year.
Chase Freedom (Visa version, MC version is sock drawered) 5% back this1/4 on Dining, Dept. Stores, Movies and Charity up to $1500

    Opening the side flip...
I find two more cards and my ID.
Chase Ink Cash (I'm on the old reward schedule) 3% on Restaurants, Home Improvement and Office Supplies
Penfed Platinum Cash Rewards 5% statement credit on Gas (only at the pump)

    But wait, there's more.
Digging in a pocket, I pull out a clear plastic picture holder containing...
Cards of various types, some photos and two more credit cards!
Sears Citi I don't know why. Yes I do. They used to have some deals only with Sears card. I don't think they do anymore. It's coming out!
Citi Dividend 5% back this 1/4 on Toy, Electronic, Dept. and Clothing stores. It's has an annual limit on rewards. I don't recall what it is, so it must be rather extreme.

That would be nine and one is getting removed.

Now someone start a topic so I can write about how rigid and throbbing my sock drawer collection is.
