Default Getting the first credit card (secured)

I'm currently banking with 1rst Convenience Bank; it's located in the Wal Mart I work in so I'm going to stick with them while I have this job. They don't have credit cards, though, so I need to get a secured credit card to earn a credit score so I can finance a nice car or motorcycle.

What are the prerequisites for getting a secured credit card with Chase bank? I really don't want to have another checking account and debit card; I just want the credit card to establish myself as someone who can pay back money they borrowed because they weren't successful enough to buy stuff in full (wouldn't that make every credit card holder more irresponsible and worthless than people who don't need extra money before a pay check? Gah! Such a stupid reputation system.)

Anywayyyyyy, how much money would I need to bring there and would they turn me down if I hold my allegiance with 1rst convenience and tell them to screw off with all their offers when I only want their creddy card?

I know Chase does not offer secured credit card right now. I went to Chase bank and asked the rep already.

You should try Bank of America secured CC or US BankCorp. I think it's easier to get a secured card if you have a checking or saving acct with that bank, but I think you don't have to open a checking acct with them to get one.

Liked me, I have been banking with Bank of America for 5 years. They know everything about me (good customer), so they offer me a partial secured card. It means I have to give them $100, then they give me a secured card for $500 credit limit (plus $39 for annual fees). After one year of using that card with good payments, balances, scores... They promise to give my deposit money back ($100 plus interest), and they also offer me a unsecured credit card.

I'm very new liked you, I just had their secured card for 4 months. Go try with BofA, I know they will give you one

Just for kicks you can apply for a regular credit card. If you have no credit (as opposed to bad credit) but you have a job and have had a balance in your checking account for a few months you just might get approved. You may not need a secured card

You can see my rant about Wells Fargo Secured Credit Card above...

Just keep in mind that banks can and will screw you on that one year graduation thing. I've been through it twice. IMO, it's not worth having your hard earned money tied up for however long your bank wants to string you along. But if it's absolutely the only way to get credit I suppose it's ok, maybe try department stores or local credit unions first though.
