    Default Paperless statements/online payments...

Wonder if anyone here has noticed that credit card companies are pushing you to sign up for paperless monthly statments (sending you an email that the statement is ready to be viewed online) in order for them not having to run paper statements and send them out.
Along with this they are also pushing online payments.
All with buzz terminology like saving on stamps, more secure, blah, blah, blah.

LOL my favorite is when companies encourage us to do it because they say it's green. I'm sure it is but the real green they care about is the green they're saving by not having to print and mail statements. I would be more motivated to sign up if they offered a financial incentive, maybe a $10 credit to my account to sign up. Sprint did that a couple years ago to enroll in online billing and I did it just for that reason. You figure the cost of printing and mailing a statement is probably close to a dollar so they should be offering some kind of incentive if they want more people to do it.

I made one purchase on a card I don't use often and paid it right away with online banking. I never got a statement that month even though I used that credit card. I called them up and they say they don't send statements if you don't owe anything. That surprised me I thought they would send statements every month as long as there's activity on the account.

Junipercard offered me a ONE time credit of $5 to sign up for the paperless statement/online payment sign up option.
Yes it is safer - but - there's a dangert that crooked creditors somehow database your banking information and give your banking/personal information to collection agencies.

I do mine online just because I like having proof they received payments. I don't want to mail a payment and them to claim they never got it and then I get hit with late fees and interest. The whole online payment process must be saving them a crap load of money though I would think.
