Thread: Gas prices.....

We sure are getting hosed on gas. Yesterday I noticed a couple stations in my area bump prices at the pump back up close to what they were over the summer. Keep in mind this was before the record surge in oil prices we saw today. My car is running on an 1/8 of a tank and it's time for a fillup and I'm afraid of what it's at now.

This will be the final nail on the coffin for our economy. It doesn't matter what we do because if energy prices are price fixed like this we're in for some treacherous times ahead.

This is how I look at it. For the first time in history all of civilization became dependent on one thing - oil - and now we don't have enough to go around. Nerver before in history has the world face a dilemma like this. Sure there is price fixing and manipulation but it goes a lot deper than that. To sum it up there's not enough oil to go around.

Where I live gas is barely cheaper than I recall paying in June. Atlanta supposedly is out of gas and prices were $5 and $6 there over the past several days. To me this sounds like artificial scarcity so people there begin having the mindset that oil ia rare commodity they must pay more for. It's no different than DeBeers has done with diamonds: control the supply to make them seem more scarce then they actually are, and hence, more expensive.

Yeeeah gas went up like $27 in one day this week but it went back down fast too.

Big oil and their greed is finally kicking them in the but LOL they just found out what happens when they price gouge us too much and that is the collapse of the economy. I'm not even that old but I remember when I was a teen in the late 90's gas was under a dollar. Like 90 cents. I mean I know inflation has something to do with the price increase but inflation has not been 400% in 10 years so there is no reason why they should be charging us $4 to $5 a gallon.

Total scam if you ask me. But yeah like I said they just found out what happened from pushing us too far.

Hurricane Ike was/is the main culprit in the rise of gas prices recently, especially in states which have direct pipelines from Houston/Galveston.

I wouldn't say Hurricane Ike was the main culprit. I would say it was anticipation of Hurricane Ike that was the main culprit. Gas prices all across the southern and midwest U.S. jumped $1 to $2 and more on anticipation alone.

Wow I love to go the gast station seeing below $4 a gallon. Isn't it great ? I mean come on we pay an average of $4 where other countries pay $9-$11 a gallon.

Let's not forget the European countries that have $10 gas is because of taxes that pay for free healthcare and dirt cheap tuition.

What would you rather do, pay $10 a gallon for gas or $7,000 a year for healthcare and $30,000 a year for college tuition?

I'd take the $10 gas any day of the week.
