Default I think platinum cards have lost their prestige

I just wanna know if anyone else finds the meaning of a platinum credit card totally worthless now??? Platinum credit cards seem to be a dime a dozen now. I've even noticed on the cards offered to people with bad credit are classified as Platinum. What does this mean now??

Then I'm seeing issuers trying to prop up the Platinum image by saying their cards are Double Platinum or Platinum Plus and then the newest I've seen lately is Ultimate Platinum. What a joke!!!

Then I see Citi issuing so called Diamond cards and doesn't fleet have Titanium cards too?? These have NO MEANING WHATSOEVER NOW! Every card out there today is a Platinum or Double Platinum or Double-Quadruple Platinum-Ultimate-Extreme!

whatever happened to gold cards? weren't those all the rage in the 80's and 90's?

10 years from now we won't see regular good old platinum cards anymore either HA!

Next you folks will be seeing all kind of credit cards made with metal maybe even real silver and gold. They'll keep upping the ante.

Them platinum cards mean nothing. I don't even know what cards are out there nowadays that aren't platinum.

Yeah Platinum is all over the place. Even black comes more and more now. However I believe there is only one real platinum and one real black left. Amex Plat and Cent. Everything else is just the bling bling stuff

The real question was what comes after platinum? It use to be "the gold standard" and then they decided to make platinum more valuable. Which metals are left?

Perhaps it's time to create new rare elements that more rare and more valuable.

Or to replace the black card we can have the plutonium card made with real plutonium. It will stand out from the rest by glowing in the dark. What do you think?

I just applied for the new Uranium Ultimate card from American Express. It's not quite at the Plutonium level but only a few elements below.
Disclosure: I am a moderator/paid staff of this site, which does have advertising relationships with some credit cards that are discussed. Regardless, anything I say is my honest opinion.

    Current Cards:
American Express: Blue Cash, Simply Cash Bank of America: WorldPoints Platinum Plus Chase: Amazon, British Airways, Cash Plus Rewards, Freedom, Ink Cash Citi: Thank You Premier, Dividend Platinum Select Discover: More
Primary Everyday Card: American Express Blue Cash
Primary Travel Card: Citi Thank You Premier
