I've felt like I need to cut corners every way I can with the slowing economy. Even if you're one of the lucky ones that hasn't experienced a drop in income (or lost your job), you most certainly have lost money either in your home's value, your retirement, your investments, high gas and food prices, or all of the above.
- I've cut out cable. This is something I miss because I like watching my news, especially during election time. Surprisingly I don't get any channels in clearly in with an antenna despite living in a metropolitan area so I've resorted to using the CNN website quite often for the news. They have free streaming video for important things like the debate, but not any of their shows.
- I've cut back on eating out significantly.
- No vacations or traveling for me this year.
- I've significantly cut back on my groceries. I've been buying frozen fruits and veggies instead of fresh since they are much cheaper. I'm drinking a lot more water instead of juices. And to keep this post on topic, I've switched my main credit card from the Amex Simply Cash to the Blue Cash since it has better rewards for gas/groceries/drugstores at 5%. I already had opened up this card in the past but when I read the Blue Cash review on here it made me contemplate using it again.
Any other good tips on saving money right now?
