Default 2 Citibank Accounts for 1 Airlines Account?

    Hi,

I currently have an American Airlines rewards account. I also have a citibank mastercard tied to this account.

My question is, can I have my wife sign up for a new citibank card to get bonus miles but have her new credit card (and bonus miels) point to my already existing AA rewards account? Basically just want all rewards going to the same account but have both of us get the bonus miles for signing up for cards.

Also, how long after we receive bonus awards should we wait to close her new credit card?

    Thanks,
    ErnieP

I think you will need to read the fine print.

You probably need to keep the account open for a year to keep the miles but I don't know. And they probably will not let you get miles in one account for two different card offers. People try to do this kind of thing all the time. They have rules to stop it.

I don't think that will work...
