Question Chase Cash Plus Rewards card

I have had this card for 4 or 5 years now. It offered 5% cashback on grocercies, gas, and drugstores but Chase discontinued the card in summer 2006. They quit issuing it and also chopped down the reward to only 2% or 3% for those categories. Since then I have not used the card.

Today I logged into my Chase account online which I haven't done in ages. I did this simply to check if I was eligible for an automatic credit line increase on the Cash Plus Rewards Visa or the Amazon Visa cards.

When I clicked on the Chase Plus Reward it gave a summary that said:

Your Chase Cash Plus Rewards card earns rewards 5 times faster on everyday purchases. With your Cash Plus Rewards card, you earn 5 points for every eligible dollar spent on gas, grocery and drugstore purchases. Plus, you earn 1 point for every eligible dollar spent on purchases made elsewhere.
Do you think this is an error or are they continuing to offer their original cardmembers the 5%? All I know is I remember receiving mailings from them saying it was discontinued. Like I said I know they no longer offer issue the card at all anymore so the only people that have it are the ones from summer 2006 and before. Usually when they end a card they switch it over to a similar card (like Amex did with the In:NYC, LA, Chicago cards, replacing them with Blue cards) but not the case with the Chase Cash Plus card.

Does anyone else still have this card that would know? If it does indeed offer the 5% still I will consider using it but my gut is this is only an error on the website.

I think I used to have this card if this was the only Chase card that gave 5% but I canceled it when they quit offering it.

Wouldn't hurt to call chase and ask. Anyhow I doubt that such offer still exist at Chase.

I forgot to followup here- I did end up checking and it turns out it was an error on their site... Too bad.

    Cool Still have the card

I got this card back in 2006 and still have it. Still gives me 5% on gas groceries and drug stores. Hopefully that lasts.

Are you sure about that? Because if you are you are the only person mentioned on these credit card forums that has it. They told me they ended it for everyone.

    Default Chase Rewards Plus exists

I can confirm what Kastigador says about the Chase card. I've had one for about 4 or 5 years now. It continues to give me 5% back on my gas & grocery purchases up to $300 per year ($6K in purchases). They stopped opening new accounts a few years ago but the existing accounts continue but I'm doubtful as to how much longer that will be. I use the card for only buying gas & groceries and switch to another card when I hit the yearly max.

I received a letter from Chase a couple of months ago that they wanted to "upgrade" my account to their new Sapphire card. The offer allow me to option out of the change, for which I promptly called them and they agreed to allow me to continue with the current card, no hassles.
