I have had this card for 4 or 5 years now. It offered 5% cashback on grocercies, gas, and drugstores but Chase discontinued the card in summer 2006. They quit issuing it and also chopped down the reward to only 2% or 3% for those categories. Since then I have not used the card.
Today I logged into my Chase account online which I haven't done in ages. I did this simply to check if I was eligible for an automatic credit line increase on the Cash Plus Rewards Visa or the Amazon Visa cards.
When I clicked on the Chase Plus Reward it gave a summary that said:
Do you think this is an error or are they continuing to offer their original cardmembers the 5%? All I know is I remember receiving mailings from them saying it was discontinued. Like I said I know they no longer offer issue the card at all anymore so the only people that have it are the ones from summer 2006 and before. Usually when they end a card they switch it over to a similar card (like Amex did with the In:NYC, LA, Chicago cards, replacing them with Blue cards) but not the case with the Chase Cash Plus card.Your Chase Cash Plus Rewards card earns rewards 5 times faster on everyday purchases. With your Cash Plus Rewards card, you earn 5 points for every eligible dollar spent on gas, grocery and drugstore purchases. Plus, you earn 1 point for every eligible dollar spent on purchases made elsewhere.
Does anyone else still have this card that would know? If it does indeed offer the 5% still I will consider using it but my gut is this is only an error on the website.
