    Default Capital One

    Capital One Ultra for professionals?
$39 annual fee. 2 miles for every $ spent.
We charge $10-12k a month, pay it off every month.
    Presently have a CitiAdvantage card...gives 1 mile per $
Anyone got a better alternative to getting the best rewards back from this sort of spending habits?
I've searched the site but see nothing on this card.......worrysome!!!

Default If your cash flow is that high...

you should just pony up and get a platinum card as the extra perks are nice and you could easily afford the annual fee.

However, if it were me, I wouldn't be after airline miles; I'd go for cashback. I don't trust the airlines; it's too hard to use miles; if you've got the money, it's easier to just buy the damn ticket from expedia, et al.

Get a Fidelity or Schwab card, both through B of A. They're paying 2% cashback to an investment account on everything. Or try a Chase Freedom card. I have another post about my current tri-card cashback plan, which you can find on this board if you're interested.

Just stop using the Citi Card, ignore Capital One and take one of the cards from American Express (Cashback or rewards, charge or credit pick what you like). I love the fact that they speak English. I hated Cap 1 and could never understand the Rep. Support the country ... Use Amex (no I am not getting paid for that )

    Default Unless you're a high-roller...

Amex rewards suck. They're offering 1% or less cashback and the tiered scenario on Blue Cash, which I have, is BS. Why make it so complicated.

The Fidelity Amex I have through B of A (not a REAL Amex card; just uses their network) pays 2% back on everything, no tiers, no limits, no annual fee. The web interface is extremely plain and straight-forward. It's the old MBNA interface that they used for their affinity cards (B of A bought MBNA several years ago). The thing I like best about it is transactions appear immediately as pending. On all the other sites I've used it takes a day or days before you can see the individual transactions with merchant name and amount.

The customer service from B of A for the Fidelity card also has been excellent. Remember, the card is branded "Fidelity," which doesn't want it's customer's getting pissed off, so B of A has to be on its toes if it wants to continue to offer the Fidelity-branded card.

I did have an issue with the card shortly after opening account with my rewards getting transferred. First call to B of A got me a some idiot in a call center in Singapore. They told me to call Fidelity. When I did they set up a three-way call with a U.S. rep from B of A, someone from Fidelity and myself. It was a stupid problem that shouldn't have happened in the first place, but they bent over backwards to fix it. I was frankly blown away by how much trouble they went to.

My job has absolutely nothing to do with anyone in the credit card industry, btw. If Amex weren't so stingy, I might consider them. However, I've had worse experience with their customer service than I've had with the Fidelity card or with Chase or Citi, for that matter.

As for CapOne, the ONLY reason to keep CapOne card is no fee for transactions in foreign currency.

Amex rewards don't suck if you go with the right card. Some of their airline cards are good if you travel on that airline a lot. The Starwood card isn't bad either. But the one that I use is their Simply Cash (small business) card and that cash back on that I feel is fairly good - 3% on gas, 5% at office supply stores, and 1% elsewhere. I like that they credit your statement with the cash back automatically instead of having to accumulate a certain amount and request it.

I remember jeffysdad mentioned the Fidelity card before and I have to agree 2% can't be beat. What I don't like about it though is that from what I understand, you need to have a Fidelity IRA and the cash back is deposited into it. Does it still work that way?
Disclosure: I am a moderator/paid staff of this site, which does have advertising relationships with some credit cards that are discussed. Regardless, anything I say is my honest opinion.

    Default yep...

fidelity still works that way; however, acct. doesn't have to be an ira; it can just be a regular brokerage acct. don't forget the similar product at schwab.

if i did travel a lot, i'd prolly go with amex, but for me it's just not worth it.

    Default Thanx

    Thanx guys.
I've already cut up the Cap 1 card...turns out that their definition of "miles" is way different to Citi's. At Citi, 25k mls gets a domestic ticket. At Cap 1, if I remember, 10% of the ticket cost x 1000 is the miles you need.
    So for a $400 ticket, I need 40k "miles".
    I'm busy getting a Schwab card......2% cash back......like y'all said.
What a scam the whole small print thing is. Everywhere we turn these days we get the shaft, if we don't have eyes in the back of our heads.
