    Default Bank of America Accolades Card

    It's the B of A Visa version of the Amex Centurion. This is what I found about it
    • 12.24% APR
    • 500,000 credit limit
    • $295 annual fee but the top tier customers do not have to pay
    • comes with concierge, discounts on travel, and private outings with celebritites

    The last thing cracks me up. Dangling celebs in your face to try and get you to get the card? Ha I bet it works too though.

    I know Wachovia has some other card like that planned. May already be out I don't know and don't got enough $$ to know! Even if I had the dough I don't get why people pay to have a credit card. All these cards that you pay a few hundred or even thousand --- if you're not getting benefits worth more than what you're paying no point in getting it in the first place.

    I think it's funny that the Bank of America Accolades credit card is co-branded with American Express. B of A is who started Visa but they turned to Amex for this credit card. If you want an ultra high end credit card just for the benefits the Accolades it probably a better value than the Amex Centurion's $2,500 annual fee. But then again if you want a card as a status symbol the Amex Centurion is probably the way to go.

    About these status symbol cards that IS why people get them, it's not for the benefits. I am friends with a very wealthy family that is on the Forbes 400 and they don't bother to use Centurion because they don't believe the annual fee is worth it. Like I said they have billions, a private jet, and all that, but they know that they are smart with their money and know that it shouldn't be thrown away on something that says "Look at me, I'm rich!" They know that's not important and they could care less. They only buy nice things if it serves a real purpose not as status symbols.

    I haven't read any Accolade card reviews yet I don't think it's a card that has became popular yet.

    Default Bank of America Accolades - more info

    It's interesting that the Amex Centurion is the B of A Accolades card main competitor, yet one has an annual fee of $2500 and the other is almost one-tenth that at $295. I found out the card is not issued by Bank of America but rather U.S. Trust which is a subsidiary they had acquired. They market the Accolades under the U.S. Trust name since they are better known for affluent clients. The official name is "U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management." Word is that if you have more than $100K in deposits/investments at B of A they waive the $295 annual fee. I thought it was kind of tacky they first advertised the Accolades with a 1.9% balance transfer offer for the first 12 months when it was released. Thy need to cut out trashy marketing like that if they plan on having their haute taute credit card compete with American Express. They supposedly open offer the Accolades to "premier" banking customers. For some reason something tells me my B of A checking account with a whopping $700 doesn't qualify me as premier.

    I found a picture of the Accolades card which I attached.

    Citi is supposed to be coming out with another card that will compete too. There use to be the Citi Chairman credit card but I heard from multiple sources they stopped issuing those so we can probably assume they're phasing that card out.

    Well either way, no B of A Amex Accolades or Citi Chairman for me anytime soon.

    What happened to this credit card? I found blog from March 1, 2011 that said it was no longer available. Why not?

    The Accolades card is now offered under Merrill Lynch now.

    The concierge service is nice, and there is no fee for booking travel or hotels. I believe the membership fee is waived if over $40k/yr is spent on the card.
