Default US Airways Mastercard late fee on Technicality

Today I was checking my account with US Airways. I noticed that the charged me for late payment. My bill date was 8/28/10 for $25.45. I payed $200 on 8/3/10. My previous payment was 7/13/10 for $100. I learned that since the statement end date was 8/3/10 they applied the $200 payment to my July payment. So as the 29th of august rolled around they gave me a late fee for $25.45 for late payment. When I called customer service the informed me there was nothing they could do. I ask to speak to a higher up mgr., they then put me on perpetual hold for nearly 10 min until I hung up. Once again here is an example of how greedy card company have doomed this country. Now we have one less credit card holder they are officially cutup and in the trash. I advise all to stay clear of US Airways as the have ridiculous interest rates and shady practices. Keep you money under your pillow it will be worth more. non greedy american

Payments are posted during the current cycle, regardless if a previous payment was made to satisfy the minimum due. We had this discussion somewhere else here. I don't blame you for being mad, but those ARE the rules.

If you're carrying a balance you shouldn't do it on a rewards card anyway; interest rates are too high.

This card appears to have a high number of unfavorable reviews.

I doubt the US Airways/Barclays marriage for credit cards will last long if all those complaints keep up.
Disclosure: I am a moderator/paid staff of this site, which does have advertising relationships with some credit cards that are discussed. Regardless, anything I say is my honest opinion.
