    Default Visa stock

I know there's another thread on here about Discover's stock price but thought I'd start one here about Visa too.

Visa and MasterCard are different from American Express and Discover since they don't issue cards or loan out money. The banks do all that. You would think companies like that with virtually zero risk would be doing okay, but even Visa (V) and MasterCard (MA) stock has tanked like every other financial company out there.

The argument is that spending will go down which means so will there transaction fees. But they're down 35% in 3 months, do you think their profits will really decrease by this much?

The current price of Visa's stock is approximately $10 less than it's initial public offering price earlier this year. IPO's are often inflated prices in the first place. For the current price to be $10 less I would say is fairly valued. It certainly is not drastically undervalued as you have implied. With a forward p/e of 23.5 I would say they are still overvalued in my opinion.

Microsoft was king of computers in the 90's and NOW THEY ARE STUGGLING TO KEEP PACE WITH APPLE!!!

Right now Visa is Microsoft and they will only be on top for so long. When there are others out there like AMEX that give more benefits and better service you can't expect some stodgy big corporate monstrasity like Visa to be on the top rung forever.

    Go Amex!!!

I wasn't saying that is is necessarily a bargain but only that it isn't expensive right now. I don't follow these things close enough to know what price truly would be a bargain.

Their stock has been bouncing between 50 and 60 over the past 10 days. Either this stock is highly volatile or it is being targeted by day traders for manipulation.

My guess is price manipulation. It sounds like someone has been playing the market like a violin lately.
